COVID-19 CPR Guidelines for Primary Care

New Guideline Infographic for those working in Primary Care

If you work in a primary care environment, including GP and Dental Practices, Pharmacies and Optometry, then this is for you.

The Resuscitation Council has released new guidance, in the form of an infographic (see above), for carrying out adult CPR during the current pandemic.

The graphic is also downloadable direct from the Resuscitation Council, and from that page, you can also access the Resus Council's full statement on COVID-19 in Primary Care settings.

First Aid & the Move towards COVID level 3

Following on from meetings between governing parties in the First Aid world, the HSE and the First Aid Awarding Organisation forum (FAAOF) have released further statements regarding the resumption of first aid training during the coronavirus outbreak.

Although we're not there yet, we're moving towards the Government's COVID alert level 3. To help you to make informed decisions about staying compliant and reorganising your training, we're publishing the details of their statements. We've also picked out the key points that you should watch out for.

During the current Coronavirus outbreak, huge efforts are being made to treat those affected and to limit its spread. Drastic measures have now been put in place to reduce transmission and the government has issued very clear instructions to all.

HSE Statement about First Aid and COVID-19

Over the course of a few short weeks, the world as we currently know it has changed and many businesses are finding the normal order of things has also changed. One thing that doesn’t alter, and in fact has become a high priority, is our need to keep the workforce safe.

Obviously having access to PPE is crucial for staff in key areas but other more subtle requirements are still there. Having adequate access to first aid remains key too.

Over 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen each year in the UK and around 80% of those happen at home. The Resuscitation Council have issued new guidelines for performing CPR in the community during the Coronavirus outbreak.
